Art
I work in acrylic, mixed-media, oil, and sometimes in watercolor. Recently, my graphic art was published in the arts issue of Little Village Magazine. I am now experimenting with silhouette and led lights (as seen in the image to the side of this text), which creates a dynamic effect of luminosity and depth. I also enjoy amateur photography. Some of my work appears in academic journals, I created a video collage installation for the exhibition I curated: Two Turn Tables and a Microphone, and I contributed to a mural on display at the Figge Museum. In addition to curating, writing for exhibition catalogues, and being an art practitioner, I am an ongoing consultant for regional and national art exhibitions at museums and community art centers. I have worked with the African American History Museum in Cedar Rapids, IA, the University of Iowa Museum of Art in Iowa City, IA, Artspace in New Haven, CT, and the Hiphop Archive at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.
